Sometimes, not knowing things can cause real problems. For other times, just the opposite is true.
How comfortable are you with not knowing? Now, not knowing some things can be a real disadvantage. It is important to know what you need to know in order to succeed at work, at home, and in any other activity you choose. However, sometimes not knowing can be a plus. Confused? Let’s dig a little deeper.
Did you ever have a dream or a goal and you say to someone, “Here’s what I’m going to do,” and they say to you, “Oh yeah? How are you doing to do that?” You don’t know how you’re going to do it and their comments lead you to believe that maybe you should give up until you do know exactly how you are going to accomplish your goal.
Here’s a little free advice: Instead of letting that stop you, instead of letting it mean the end of a dream, go ahead anyway. Because sometimes not knowing the “how” of something means you are open to all possibilities. You are not sure, so you will be looking for opportunities. You will be opening up your subconscious mind to scan for options, and you will find them. We are, quite literally, built to find options and opportunities.
You see, if you are going to take a giant leap out of your current reality, you need to stifle the need to know how, otherwise you will shrink your vision. You will deny yourself the chance to achieve your dream because it seems unrealistic. You will invent a hundred reasons why you should quit before you even get started. What you need to do instead is grow into your dream and invent the “how” as you go along. You really are smart enough to do this, and your brain knows it. You just need to listen to it.
You see, it is the goal you want, the dream you want – because that is going to lead you to your future. If you really want to control your future…invent it! You, and only you, have the power to create your own future – as an individual and as a team, department or organization.
