The first LIVE teaching seminar presented by Lou Tice in Seattle, Washington, USA. The Pacific Institute is officially established as "a corporation dedicated to human fulfillment."
January 1976
The Pacific Institute® develops the world’s first video-based, facilitated education, called Achieving Your Potential®, and implements a “train the trainer” model for corporate engagements.
September 1980
The opening of an office in Perth, Australia marks the beginning of international expansion for The Pacific Institute®. It is followed in 1982 by the establishment of Tice Seminars Ltd. in London.
July 1986
The Pacific Institute® opens an office in South Africa with the goal of putting a positive cultural infrastructure in place for when apartheid eventually ended in 1994.
October 1989
Simon and Schuster’s Prentice Hall Division publishes Lou Tice’s first retail book, A Better World, A Better You.
March 1991
The 20-year anniversary of The Pacific Institute® Inc. is marked by a two-day collaboration between Lou Tice and Stanford University’s Dr. Albert Bandura. Dr. Bandura is the most-referenced living psychologist according to the American Psychological Association magazine, and his relationship with the Institute continues to this day.
March 1994
The Pacific Institute establishes an ongoing relationship with Dr. Martin Seligman, of the University of Pennsylvania. The Institute opens offices in China, Japan and Mexico.
August 1995
Pacific Institute Publishing premieres Lou Tice’s second book, Smart Talk for Achieving Your Potential – 5 Steps to Get You From Here to There, at The Pacific Institute® Global Leadership Conference, in Seattle, WA. It has been in continuous publication ever since.
June 1996
The Pacific Institute® holds its Global Leadership Conference in Seattle, featuring keynote speakers General Colin Powell and Dr. Robert Spitzer, S.J. This partnership resulted in an invite to both Gen. Powell and TPI from Japanese newspaper Nikkei to attend the International Japanese-American Trade Alliance Meeting.
December 1997
Thomas Nelson, Inc. publishes Lou Tice’s third book, Personal Coaching for Results. Developed for coaches and mentors in every walk of life, it has become “a model of what it means to be an intelligent heart.” (Lou Tice)
February 1998
The Pacific Institute introduces a third-party organizational culture-measurement tool. Provided by Human Synergistics®, the statistical measurement tool further validates the effectiveness of The Pacific Institute’s implementations. By this time, The Pacific Institute® works with clients in 47 countries in 14 different languages around the world.
June 2003
The Los Angeles Leadership Conference is held by Lou Tice and Pete Carroll, then head football coach at USC. The pair establishes a partnership called the “A Better LA” project in order to reduce gang violence in South L.A. This continuing program has been extremely successful, and its contribution has been nationally recognized.
October 2004
In collaboration with former President Álvaro Arzú and his successor, then President Oscar Berger, The Pacific Institute® implements the training of over 12,000 first- and second-grade teachers throughout Guatemala. This initiative saw the country’s student retention rates climb from 60% to more than 90%.
September 2008
Post-Beijing Olympics, the US Olympic swim team goes through the PX2® program at the request of the team’s general manager, Mark Schubert. Many of those participants go on to claim medals and break records at the 2012 Olympics in London.
January 2010
January 25th - Leadership Innovation Award (2009) presented to University of Alabama Crimson Tide football coach, Nick Saban, following Alabama’s BCS Championship. Saban’s relationship with TPI began in 2008, and the Crimson Tide has gone on to win three of the four BCS titles that followed.
April 2012
The passing of The Pacific Institute® co-founder Lou Tice. Lou spent his final days challenging those around him to carry on with his life’s work: educating and empowering individuals all around the globe to an ever-greater commitment toward making “a better world.”

The Pacific Institute hosts Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev at its international headquarters in Seattle, USA. As a result of the meeting and his desire to implement significant and lasting cultural change in Bulgaria, Plevneliev and The Pacific Institute have developed an ongoing relationship

The Pacific Institute launches its first program to be delivered completely online, Future Perfect Thinking™. An alumni-review program, it allows the millions of TPI graduates from around the world to revisit the core concepts of The Pacific Institute’s curricula.

Not for the first time, The Pacific Institute’s powerful curriculum concepts are focused on the youngest of learners, with the fully-animated series PX2® Kids! Initially available in English and Spanish, accompanying activity books reinforce the lessons learned by Louie and his friends.
